"Any others who do not speak will feel the Yzerren's whip... those who survive the lashings are an insult to the great Seer, and will have their eyes taken out to please him." - Duncan Wysteria, the Plight of Steel, Chapter 24

The Yzerren are the native people of Yvaereth, who became servants to the Wysteria Family after Everitt Wysteria captured the island kingdom during the First Age of the Earth. They possess their own language, which they use to communicate amongst each other, and with the Wysterias, though a select few of them can also speak the Common Tongue.

Biography[]

Their main job as servants is to patrol the Dragon Islands with their large prison carts, collecting stray wanderers and travelers before hauling them to Yvaereth, where they are processed and either made to fight in the Karthymere Arena, or to serve as slaves to either the Wysterias, or buyers from other lands. Everitt Wysteria instructed them to do so upon arriving in Yvaereth, as he saw the opportunity to create a lucrative slave trade empire and needed help to run it.

Their captain is Rakaer Drevayn, a man with a mutilated face and a brutish disposition. During the Plight of Steel, the Yzerren capture Cassara and her maiden girl Aleyna, and bring them back to Karthymere Fortress as prizes for Duncan.

Whether the Yzerren enjoy their servitude or not is unclear.

Appearance[]

The Yzerren are garbed in long, red coats covered in little bells. Wide-brimmed hats are also worn, also adorned with bells, and they carry whips as their primary weapons. Jagged swords are also used, though they reserve these for battle with uncooperative travelers they encounter on the roads. Like those born in the kingdom of Shemerith, the Yzerren have strangely colored eyes. Theirs are not yellow however - they're red as blood. Why this is has never been discovered.
